Description- This portrait features my great-grandmother Sarah,

cradling a child whose identity remains a mystery—perhaps my

mother or grandmother. The photograph was incomplete when I found

it, with the baby’s image torn away, leaving only the tender memory of

that moment. I am left to reflect on the history of my mother, and the

deep bond she shared with Grandma Sarah. To hold a child like a

fresh bouquet, with the joy and pride of knowing they are yours to

love, is a fleeting yet powerful experience. Both of them have since

passed, yet this image serves as a poignant reminder of life’s

impermanence and the interconnectedness of generations. Like

flowers, life is beautiful but temporary, and this portrait captures a

moment that, though lost in time, still resonates with the shared

human experience across generations.
